ชั่งหัวมัน...ชื่อนี้มีที่มา

     เมื่อครั้งที่พระบาทสมเด็จพระปรมินทรมหาภูมิพลอดุลยเดชบรมนาถบพิตรเสด็จประทับวังไกลกังวล พระองค์ได้พระราชทานหัวมันเทศที่ทรงโปรดเกล้าฯให้เจ้าพนักงานนำไปวางไว้บนตาชั่งในห้องทรงงาน หัวมันเทศเมื่อวางอยู่นานเข้าก็เเตกใบ มีต้นงอกออกมา ก็ทรงให้นำต้นมันนั้นไปเพาะเลี้ยงไว้ในเรือนเพาะชำ เเล้วนำมันเทศหัวใหม่มาวางไว้บนตาชั่งเเทน ทำเช่นนี้ไปเรื่อยๆป ในเรือนเพาะชำก็มีเเต่ต้นมันเทศ ทรงมีพระดำริว่า "หัวมันเทศวางไว้บนตาชั่งไม่มีดินเเละน้ำยังงอกได้ ที่ดินเเปลงนี้ มีดินเเละพอมีน้ำอยู่บ้างก็น่าจะปลูกมันเทศได้" จึงพระราชทานต้นมันเทศจากเรือนเพาะชำมาปลูกไว้ที่นี่ เเละพระราชทานชื่อโครงการนี้ว่า โครงการชั่งหัวมัน ตามพระราชดำริ

The chang Hua Man Project

     Once when King Bhumipol Adulyadej was residing at the Klai Kang Won Palace. He asked someone to put a sweet patato on a scale in His office. The sweet potato was forgotten for a time and when the King checked on it again, some roots had begun to grow. The King then had the potato planted on a farm and put another sweet potato on His scale and repeated this process untill there were a lot of sweet potatoes on the farm . The King reflected, "Umm...there's no water,so the sweeet potatoes should grow here,too". He thenhad the sweet potatoes moved from to His property and started the Chang Hua Man Royal Project. Chang means weigh in Thai, and Hua Man means sweet potatoes. It is a pun because,together,Chang Hua Man means "whatever" and these potatoes seemed to grow in whatever environment they were placed in.
